The Tankorolla

Bionic Possum

Welcome to the home page of the Bionic Possum paintball scenario group.  We are a group of guys from West Tennessee that went to scenario games together.  After we went to a few we figured we needed a team name and so Bionic Possum was born.

Latest News

We have a couple of videos up of the tank in action.

The first one is shorter and of lesser quality but doesn't take too long to load.

The second one is longer and better quality.  The best way is to save it to your computer first and then watch.

Right click here and then click "save target as"

We usually play most of our scenario games at Paintball Park in Memphis. (www.memphispaintball.com).  Of course we aren't above a few backyard "renegade" games either. We have a nice little uum "training facility"  in a local bit of woods that we have put a few bunkers and things in.  Of course this area is top secret.  (We wouldn't want anyone to learn our top notch tactics) ;)

We like to have a good time and not take things too seriously.  We do this for fun and many  other people do need to realize that this is just a game after all.  We don't wipe any hits off or anything like that.

All of us on the team have different styles of play.  You can learn more about the styles of the main members on the "more on" pages.

Bionic Possum? What the heck does that mean?

Well, good question.  Let's break it down.

Bionic means:

  1. Having anatomical structures or physiological processes that are replaced or enhanced by electronic or mechanical components.
  2. Having extraordinary strength, powers, or capabilities; superhuman.

I think our paintball markers qualify as being anatomical structures and physiological processes that are enhanced by electronic or mechanical components, don't you think?  I would like to think that we have extraordinary strength, powers, and capabilities.  Superhuman? I guess that's open to debate. ;)

Now for the possum part.  A possum is: (psm)
Any of various nocturnal, usually arboreal marsupials of the family Didelphidae, especially Didelphis marsupialis of the Western Hemisphere, having a thick coat of hair, a long snout, and a long prehensile tail.

Now you are asking "What does that have to do with paintball?"  Ok, I'll tell you. When you act like a possum you:  feign ignorance, indifference or inattention, with the intent to deceive; to dissemble;-- an allussion to the habit of the possum who feigns unconsciousness when attacked or alarmed.  So you think we are napping and then we get you!

For all you out there worried about it being opossum instead of possum read the following.

Regional Note: Since English is a language that stresses some syllables and not others, weakly stressed syllables, especially those preceding strong stresses, are dropped at times. This process, called aphesis when it occurs at the beginning of a word, is more common in regional American dialects than in the more conservative Standard English, which tends to retain in pronunciation anything reflected in spelling. Although many American dialects feature aphesis, it is most famous in the dialects of the South, where it yields pronunciations such as count of for (on) account of, tater for potato, possum for opossum, and skeeter for mosquito.

There you have it.  Bionic Possum.

We have different styles of play that each of us use.  One thing we have in common is we like to have fun and not take things too seriously.  Paintball is about having fun.  Some people need to remember that!

Our Motto: the ones to call if you need a tank!
